Navy CV template

Professional

One-column layout

A dark navy header with your photo on the right, then a single column with the dates lined up on the left. Formal and quick to scan.

Best for: finance, accounting, engineering and management roles.

Atlas CV template

Professional

One-column layout

A charcoal header and solid black section bars give it a firm, structured look, while everything stays in one easy-to-read column.

Best for: IT, data and operations roles, or anyone who likes a structured look.

Classic CV template

Professional

One-column layout

A traditional one-column layout with a thin timeline and amber accents down the left edge. Recruiters in every sector know this format.

Best for: teaching, care work, trades and other roles where a familiar format works best.

Modern CV template

Modern

Two columns with a sidebar

A deep navy sidebar with gold accents holds your skills and languages, leaving the main column free for experience and education.

Best for: project and product managers, customer-facing roles and tech.

How to choose a CV template

What you write matters more than the design, but the wrong design can still work against you. Four questions settle it quickly.

What does your industry expect?

Banks, law firms and the public sector still prefer restrained layouts such as Simple, Classic or Navy. Creative, hospitality and startup roles leave more room for color. If you are unsure, look at a CV example for your job.

Will you include a photo?

A photo is common in Germany, Austria and much of central and southern Europe, but usually left out in the UK, Ireland and the US. Every template works with or without one.

Will the CV go through an ATS?

When you apply through a company's careers portal, software reads your CV before a person does. One-column templates are the safest choice for that. Every template uses real, selectable text, and you can test the result before you apply.

How much do you have to say?

With little experience, a one-column template keeps a single page from looking empty. With a long career, a sidebar moves skills and languages aside so the main column has room for your experience.

How long should a CV be?

What every template includes

  • Your own colors

Change the accent color of any template to suit your field or your taste.

  • Switch at any time

Your text is stored separately from the design, so you can try another template in one click without retyping anything.

  • CVs in several languages

Write each CV in the language the job calls for, all from one account: a German CV for Berlin, a Spanish one for Madrid.

  • Photo optional

Add a photo where it is expected and leave it out where it is not. The layout adjusts either way.

  • Real, selectable text

Nothing is flattened into an image, so applicant tracking systems and recruiters can read and search every word.

  • Print-ready PDF

Download a crisp A4 PDF that looks the same on every screen and prints cleanly.

CV templates: frequently asked questions

Are the CV templates free?

You can choose any template, fill it in and preview the result for free, without a credit card. Downloading the finished CV as a PDF requires one of the plans listed on our pricing page.

Can I download a CV template in Word format?

No. Cvida exports PDF only. A PDF keeps your layout identical on every computer and is the format most employers ask for. Your CV stays editable in the builder, so you can download a fresh PDF whenever you change something.

Which CV template is best for applicant tracking systems (ATS)?

A one-column template such as Simple, Classic, Navy or Atlas is the safest choice, because the text is read in a single top-to-bottom order. All ten templates use real text rather than images, and you can test your CV with our free ATS checker.

Can I change the template after I have started?

Yes. Your content is kept separately from the design, so switching templates in the builder rearranges the same text into the new layout. Nothing has to be retyped.

Do I have to add a photo to my CV?

No. Every template works without a photo. Whether to include one depends mostly on the country: photos are common in Germany and Austria, for example, and usually left out in the UK, Ireland and the US.

What is the difference between a CV template and a CV example?

A template is the design: layout, fonts and colors. A CV example shows the content for a specific job, such as what to put in the summary, experience and skills. Many people start from the example for their role and then pick the template they like best.
